Her first semester grades are kinda 'meh' and mom (me) isn't taking it well, but I'm trying to do better. So I apologized and we hugged and it's all okay.
Remember, the first semester is tough -- you're learning to really study for the first time, meeting new people, managing time and work without a lot of guidance from Mom and Dad, and you're dealing with being away from the nest. You think it's easy, but at some point, you realize it's not quite the snap you thought it would be.
The good news? You can regroup in the next semester and overcome the tough start. At least, that's the way it worked for me, so I know it can for someone else.
